Musadiq Sanwal, born in 1962, will be remembered for his commitment to journalism, his closeness to his coworkers, and his love of the arts, especially music, which he studied early on and often played. He received his education at the National College of Arts (NCA) in the 1980s. He also received vocal training, and throughout his formative years, he frequently participated in music conferences and performances. In the late 1980s, Sanwal relocated to Karachi and shared a home with writer Mohammed Hanif. He started working at the London-based BBC. Midway through the 2000s, he visited Dawn in Pakistan again. The editor of Dawn.com, Musadiq Sanwal, died in January 2014 after a prolonged battle with lung cancer.
