Tariq Aziz is a talented actor, host, and poet from the Pakistan television industry. He is famous for hosting the quiz format game show Neelam Ghar on Pakistan Television in 1974. The show was later named Tariq Aziz Show and Bazm-e- Tariq Aziz Show. His iconic line in the show was Dekhti Aankhon, Sunte Kaanon Tariq Aziz ka Salam. Television in Pakistan started in 1964, and he was the first face to appear on PTV. His birthdate is 28 April 1936. His birthplace is Jalandhar, Punjab, British India. He studied his early education in Jalandhar and graduated from Government College Sahiwal, Pakistan.

In 1961, Tariq moved to Pakistan and began his career at Radio Pakistan. Later, he moved to Pakistan television and became the first male PTV announcer. As a host, he interviewed many celebrities, intellectuals, and sports persons on the show, Neelam Ghar. He was also interviewed in the game show Inam Ghar and donated all the prizes he received for the welfare of the people.

As an actor, he worked in movies like Insaniyat (1967) with Zeba and Waheed Murad He was a Pakistani movie actor cum producer. In 1996, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League Party and was elected as a member of the Pakistan National Assembly from Lahore. He stayed a member till 1999.

Later, he returned to the entertainment industry and faced challenges from other newly launched TV channels. As a poet, he has written various books in the Punjabi language like Footpath sy Parliament Tak, Hamzad Da Dukh poetry in Punjabi, Iqbal Shanasi to Know Iqbal, and Hazaar Dastaan collection of Urdu Newspaper columns. In 1992, he was awarded Pride of Performance by the President of Pakistan for his contribution to the nation. He also won the Best Host Award in 1998 at the 9th PTV Award.Tariq passed away on 17 June 2020 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, at 84.
