Tufail Farooqi was born in 1916 in Lahore and studied at Rang Mahal Mission High School. He was a broadcaster and classical singer on the radio from 1940 to 1945. In 1945 he started a career as a music composer and gained fame from there. He was active in the music industry for 38 years. He went to Bombay for the project but could not complete it due to differences with the production house. In 1947 he composed five songs for Wali Saheb’s ‘Daikho G.’ He composed the song ‘Jhumka Gira Re Bareli Kei Bazaar Main,’ which became an instant hit.
