Mukesh Gautam is a Punjabi film director by profession. He is the father of Bollywood actress Surilie Gautamand Yami Gautam. He is currently PTC Punjabi network’s vice president. He acquired it in 2008. He is known for his movies Akhiyaan Udeekdianand Ek Noor. He has created documentary dramas on life and the respective contributions of Baba Sheikh Farid, Waris Shah, and Baba Bulleh Shah. He received a national award from the fraternity of radio and television for the film Sayyid Waris Shah.
Moreover, he has created 50 short features on the art and culture, history, traditions and personas of Punjab. Currently, he is working on two films titled Amazing Rano and Shubh Karman, both of which are based on social life, sports and values.
