Nepali Singer Abhaya Subba

Abhaya Subba is a Nepalese singer-songwriter and musician born on 11th June 1979 in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. She did her primary schooling in Darjeeling and completed her Law studies at St. Xaviers College, Mumbai. She worked as a Radio Jockey for Times FM in Delhi and with Hits FM in Nepal. She is married to Kai Weise, a local artist in Nepal. Her music career began with her being part of a local band named Parikrama from 1993 to 1995. She was also a team member of other rock bands like Red Skywalkers and Punchtatva.

Then she formed Abhaya & The Steam Injuns on January 2003, a critical turning point in her musical career. In the beginning stages of the band, they played in hotels and lounge bars. Later, the band progressed and became popular, with her being the lead vocalist. Her famous discographies include The Steam Injuns (2005) and Nayan (2008). She was a judge in the Rock band competition, Sprite Band Challenge-Freedom to Rock, and the first edition of The Voice of Nepal. She has participated in many concerts and international tours with her band. She also founded and created Women in Concert to support the rising female Nepali singers and musicians.
