Min Bahadur Gurung is a famous Nepali managing director. He is a man with knowledge of his work. He is the chairman and managing director of Bhat – Bhateni Group. He was born in Dube, a village in the Khotang district. He did school up to SLC in various colleges and holds a master’s degree in Economics. His wife’s name is Ms Sabitri Ghale Gurung, and she holds many shares in Bhat – Bhateni Group. Both of them have worked hard to make their business successful. Min Bahadur Gurung was energetic and hard-working from a young age. He enjoys studying. Despite being a bright kid, who could not clear SLC, he did not lose hope and believed that something better was waiting for him. He believes in hard work, honesty, patience, positivity, and continuity.

Gurung started helping his family after the immediate completion of his degree. Then he went to Kathmandu to pursue higher studies. He got his first job as a record keeper, who used to record the attendance of the daily wage labours. He was later hired by Nepal Bank Limited and was given a position in Nepalgunj. He used to manage both his job and studies. Meanwhile, he started selling jobs, which laid the foundation of his retail business, which eventually grew into a full-time profession. He established Bhat Bhateni Cold Store and expanded his retail shop on the second floor in due course of time. But his store caught fire, which caused him a substantial financial loss. Then three years later, he established the Bhat Bhateni Department store.

His positive attitude helped him start again despite the previous losses. His wife was his significant support. Starting from a small grocery store with an investment of around 35000, his business is now worth billions of rupees with five outlets in Kathmandu. And one in Pokhara. He received tremendous support from his family, which eventually turned his outlets into giant supermarkets. His business received an overwhelming response on the day of opening. He believes that failures are essential to achieve great heights in life.

Today his business employs around 22,000 people, and the target is to reach 50,000. In the years to come. He has done many social works also like helping in the construction of the emergency ward with 72 beds at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital with an expenditure of around Rs 100 million. He provides yearly scholarships in two MBBS colleges, especially the one that locates in remote areas. He believes that one should help the underprivileged people. He inspires people to have confidence in them and create histories with them. He wants to spend his retired life as a social worker and works continuously to spread his business globally.
