Ujwal Ghimire is a well-known Nepalese Writer, Director and Producer. He was born in Kathmandu and married to Manisha Ghimire in 1995. In 1980, Ujwal began his career by performing in various dramas and stand-up comedies in Nepalese theatre. Later, he moved to the television industry and worked as a director and actor in his first television show name Yestai Huchha, which was aired on the first day of Nepal Television in 1985.
In 1986, he got a break in the super hit movie Santan, in which he played the negative role. He has worked as an actor in some international films like Lady Commando and Swarth. He has also made some advertisement films and documentaries. Ujwal is one of the outstanding directors of the Nepalese film Industry. His first directed film was Gothalo, released in 1995. He has produced the movie Jindagani.Â
Some of his major films include Gothalo, Kismat, Jindagani, Andaj, Chhodi Gaye Pap Lagla, and Wada. For his outstanding work, he has received various prestigious awards, three times the National Film Award(Nepal), and two times the Nefta Film Award. He earned the best award for stage shows in Gaijatra(Annual Gaijatra festival of Nepal) in his early years.
