Dayahang Rai is a Nepalese director, actor, and playwright. He was born on April 13, 1980. Dayahang Rai’s place of birth is Khawa, Bhojpur district in Eastern Nepal. His father’s name is Tilak Ram Rai, while her mother’s name is Chandra Devi Rai. Dayahang Rai has an older brother & two younger sisters. He married Nepali singer Benuka Rai in 2006, with whom he has two children.

He took his school education from Pashupati Lower Secondary School in Khawa VDC, Bhojpur district. Then, he completed his high school studies at Annapurna Secondary School, Dilpa, Bhojpur, in 1998. As a Geography Major, he took his intermediate-level studies at Bhojpur Multiple College. In 2001, he attended The Ratna Rajya Campus (now Manawiki Campus) in Kathmandu as a Journalism Major.

He joined Actors’ Studio, a platform for theatre artists in Nepal, in 2007 after participating in the play “Talakjung vs Tulke” as an actor. He co-founded the Mandala Theatre, Nepal, with Dhiren Raja. In 2009, he got considerable recognition for his lead role in the Nepali film “Dasdhunga.” For his role, he was honored with his first National Award for Best Supporting Actor in Dashdhunga. In 2010, he appeared as a doctor in “Acharya” and “Mero Love Story.”

In 2012, Dayahang Rai appeared in the hit Nepali crime thriller film “ Loot Click to look into! >> Read More... .” He also co-wrote the dialogues in the movie. The film was pivotal in his career, and he earned the popular Award for Loot. His two films Kabaddi (2013) & Kabaddi Kabaddi (2015), turned out to be the highest-grossing in Nepal, and he received the third National Film Award for Best Actor. During the same year, Dayahang Rai starred in the Nepali film “Purano Dunga,” directed by Ram Babu Gurung, a commercial success. In 2017, he appeared in two critically acclaimed films, namely Loot2 and Ghampani. Apart from acting, he also produced “Machha Machha” film in 2019. In 2022, he appeared as a Kaji in the Nepali romantic comedy film “Kabaddi 4: The Final Match.” The following year, he acted in numerous films, including Fulbari, Neerphool, Jaari, and so on.
