The story starts with Shagufta. She is a young and free-spirited girl. She hails from a small town. Like any other girl, she has big dreams. She dreams of being treated like a queen by her lover. She dreams of an ideal relationship where her lover is manly and fights for her. He must be opinionated and strong. As a turn of events, her family wants her to get married to her cousin, Ilyas. Ilyas works as a shopkeeper in a garment shop. She gets engaged to him without knowing much about him. After getting engaged, she realizes he is an introverted and non-confrontational man. He does not participate in corporate politics. He believes that arguments can be solved by talking rather than fighting. In short, he has the opposite personality that Shagufta looks for in a man. 

For some, Ilyas may seem like a cool-headed and peace-loving guy. But Shagufta perceived him as a weak man. According to her, Ilyas was underconfident and submissive. He lacked physical strength and relied on others for support or decision-making. Ilyas seemed like a passive man who could be easily manipulated. He could never stand for Shagufta or his family. Shagufta was disappointed in her fiance. She did not want to spend her life with a man like Ilyas. 

Shagufta is a college girl. She meets with a college mate, Shams. They become good friends quickly. Shams is an extroverted man who loves confrontation and is politically inclined. Shams always stands up for himself and his close ones. Shagufta is enchanted with Shams' charisma. She starts admiring him as she yearns for someone courageous and resilient. As their bond deepens, Shagufta finds herself drawn to Shams in ways unimaginable. She has now newfound feelings and desires that she is forced to reevaluate her relationship with Ilyas. She must grasp the life-changing decisions that redefine her married life. She finds herself at a crossroads as she navigates Sham’s presence in her life.
