Malkin is an Urdu television serial airing on the Pakistani channel GEO TV. The plot follows the story of a young courtesan called Gulnaaz who falls in love with a man named Yaver. They get married, but neither of their families approve of it. Gulnaaz’s mother tells her that a courtesan cannot live a life of married bliss, while Yaver’s mother, Nafisa, tells him that a girl of such disrespectful background cannot be the daughter-in-law of a respectable household.

However, since they have already decided to tie the knot, Gulnaaz must learn to be an ideal wife and follow the rules of the house. We soon find out that Gulnaaz has entered the house solely due to her selfish reasons. Yaver’s family owns a company and is financially well off, and Gulnaaz hopes to inherit everything one day. She is jealous of Yaver’s brother’s wife, Izma, who gets preferential treatment from their mother-in-law. When both wives get pregnant, Nafisa visibly cares more for Izma, and Gulnaaz gets worried that Izma’s child will inherit their property. This jealousy drives her to put poison in Izma’s tea. Fortunately, the maid saw her do it and asked Izma not to drink it. Everyone in the family gets rightfully upset and Nafisa asks Yaver and Gulnaaz to leave the house.

She gives birth to two little girls in her mother’s house, and Izma gives birth to a baby boy. Six years later, Yaver’s brother, Khazal, and his wife Izma die in a car accident. Yaver and Gulnaaz move back into the house and become responsible of the business and the household. Nafisa dies shortly after and Gulnaaz treats Khazal and Izma’s son Saif terribly. Years later, when Saif and Gulnaaz’s daughters, Simi and Neha, are all grown up, Gulnaaz finally has the title and the property that she always dreamed of. Saif is still miserable, and his childhood friend Samiya is in love with him. But Saif confesses that he has been in love with Simi since he was a child. Simi starts to meet him in secret and suggests that they should run away but he refuses. Gulnaaz finds out about their secret relationship and gets Saif in trouble with the police. She also arranges to look for a husband for Simi.

After being taken to the police, Saif was saved by rich man who kept him like his own child and gave him all the responsibilities of his business. Saif returns to his own house after a long time. Yaver is dead and Simi is about to get married. Gulnaaz treats him well, seeing that he has a lot of money now, but is unaware of the fact that he wants to take revenge for all the years of torture that she and her family put him through. Saif makes an elaborate plan where all of Simi’s past lovers came together and told her husband, and he divorces her immediately after marriage.

Not being able to handle that incident, Simi runs away with a man from Gulnaaz’s past, who had always been in love with her, and marries him. Saif rejects Neha, who showed affection toward him, and she commits suicide after not being able to get her love and her family is torn apart. When Saif tells Saniya what he did with Simi, she is disappointed, and explains to him that he did not do the right thing. Saif realizes he is in love with her and they get married. Gulnaaz tries to create problems in their marriage but fails, and Simi gets shot in an accident. After years of selfish decisions and greed, Gulnaaz leads a life of utter misery and depression.
