The story starts with Samina. Samina is a young woman. She lives with her parents. Her father, Mujid, remains sick and in a wheelchair. As he is unable to work, Samina takes care of the family. Samina’s mother is a housewife and her sister, Masooma is married. Masooma’s husband is an abusive man. He is disrespectful toward his wife. He is a skeptical person who suspects Masooma of having an affair behind his back. Masooma does not lead a happy life. Samina singlehandedly takes the financial burden of her house. Meanwhile, her mother wants her to get married. Samina's marriage was fixed with Raza when she was a child. Raza and Samina work in the same office.

They like each other as well. But Raza does not want to marry her now as he wants to get financially stable before that. Samina has been waiting for a long time and is ready for marriage. Raza’s grandfather is a retired post office clerk. He is a wise man. Raza is quite close to him. Raza often shares his thoughts with him. He advises Raza to break off his relationship so that both have a better chance at life. Raza and Samina mutually break off their relationship but are heartbroken about it. Samina’s boss, who is a middle-aged man, likes her. She accepts her proposal and marries him. Masooma bravely struggles with her unfaithful and insulting husband. Raza and Masooma’s families struggle a lot during the recession to live a standardized life. The show is a simple portrayal of how a human sustains himself in a life of hopelessness and misery.
