Lakme Fashion house is an Indian language fashion reality television show. Fashion shows are a subgenre of reality television. Back during the early 2000s, when the concept of reality shows was slowly becoming stale many networks were brainstorming on new ideas. Thus came fashion shows into the picture. Lakme Fashion House is one such show. It is a fashion and modeling reality show which gave a platform to young and budding fashion designers. The show held auditions for a talented fashion designer to showcase their talent. Among all the people who appeared for auditions, only 16 people were selected. The selected ones were all put together in a house in Madh Island which was completely laced with cameras. Every single activity of the sixteen participants was telecasted on television. The main task that these sixteen aspiring designers had to do was to make new and fashionable products. Based on these products, participants were scored. The final product of each participant was then modeled by a celebrity. The winner will get an opportunity to work for six months with the Italian fashion powerhouse Versace.

The show had a unique and interesting idea that had never been attempted by any other Indian network. The show was being brought to India by Star after it had a massively successful stint on Sky Italia. The show featured on the popular Hindi channel, Star One where it got massive praises from audiences for bringing such a unique and entertaining show. The show debuted on the channel in the year 2004 and became one of the most successful shows on the channel.
