Kharid lives in Hyderabad with her mother Maimoona who is bed-ridden. Kharid’s uncle, Baseerat Husain is wealthy and lives in Karachi with his wife Fareeda and son Ashar. He gets sad when he came to know about the condition of his sister. On the other hand, Maimoona was worried about her only daughter Kharid’s future. So, she expresses her concern to her brother.

Her brother was guilty that he was not able to take care of his sister, and now she was dying. So he promised that Ashar would marry Kharid. But Fareeda did not like his decision at all. She wanted Asher to marry her cousin's daughter Sara. So she tried her best to break off this arrangement. However, her attempts were proven futile because they get married against all the odds. And after the marriage, Maimoona passes away.

Kharid and Ashar were uncomfortable in this arrangement but Ashar ensures her that he will try his best to work out this relationship. Sara got depressed and devasted because of this and sought to commit suicide. As the time passes by Ashar and Kharid came close and loved blossoms between them as Ashar cannot help but admire her beauty, innocence, and pure heart. Also, on the other hand, Kharid was in awe of her husband’s caring nature.

Ashar was trying to make their bonds strong, but he also remains friends with Sara. However, when Sara humiliates Kharid, Ashar comes to her rescue, and that creates adrift in their relationship. Later Ashar’s dad passes, but he made him promise that he will take care of Kharid. But later due to turn of events and Fareeda’s manipulative ways the duo had been separated from each other.

Four year later Kharid returned to Karachi with her and Ashar’s daughter. After few uneventful episodes Ashar finally comes to term with reality and came to know about the truth from four years ago and beg for forgiveness of his wife. At last, they became the happy family they always dreamed of with their little daughter.

The story revolves around Khirad Ashan, who lives with her widowed mother, Maimoona, in a small house. Maimoona was diagnosed with cancer. Her son, Baseerat, a millionaire, in Karachi, after knowing her mother’s disease, brings her and Khirad to his home for better treatment. But then Maimmona realizes that his disease is incurable. She takes a promise from Baseerat to arrange a marriage for Khirad.

Baseerat arranges Khirad’s marriage with Ashar. They both started feeling for each other after various complications. Farida, who is Baseerat’s wife, creates misunderstandings between Khirad and Ashar. She makes Ashar believes that Khirad had some extramarital affair at the same time Khirad is pregnant, but she wants to surprise Ashar, so she is unable to tell him about their baby. One day when Ashar is not at home, Farida throws Khirad out of the house. Khirad writes a letter for Ashar. When Ashar returns, Farida convinces him that Khirad ran away. Broken Ashar doesn’t pick up Khirad’s call.

Khirad then calls off her marriage and delivers a baby girl named Hareem in Hyderabad. After four years, Hareem was diagnosed with some heart issues. Khirad confronts Ashar, but she doesn’t tell him that Hareem is his daughter. Ashar brings Khirad and Hareem to his house for Hareem’s treatment. After Hareem’s successful treatment, Khirad returns to Hyderabad secretly, leaving Ashar and Hareem together. Ashar also knows the whole truth because he finds Khirad’s letter, which she had written four years back.

Ashar apologises to Khirad. Khirad is hesitant, stating she is a different person now and isn’t sure she could love him as she used to. She also wonders how Ashar could have imagined that Khirad could cheat him. Deeply ashamed, Ashar realizes his mistake, and the three unite. This story depicts how true love always wins after every bad to worst situation. Fawad Khan, who plays the role of Ashar, debuted in Bollywood with the movie Khoobsurat. Mahira Khan, who plays the role of Khirad, is also seen in the Bollywood movie Raees. The serial also got the Hum Tv Phenomenal drama series award.
