The story tells a poignant tale of the struggles of a visionary young woman who desires to transform the lives of poor farmers. Purvi, the protagonist, aspires to be an agriculture scientist through which she hopes that she can effect substantial change in her family's fortunes. Her desire essentially stems from her loving father's hardships, to which she is a witness day in, day out. However, her mother is so narrow-minded and stubbornly orthodox in her views that she constantly berates Puvi and blames her for the family's impoverishment and believes if it weren't for Purvi's college fees, their family would have been better off. Therefore she persistently nags her about going to college. Adding to her woes, the son of a local magnate approaches her with a marriage proposal. Her mom Jumps in on it straight away, and her dad finds himself in a difficult situation of not wanting to earn the wrath of his landlord at the same time worrying for his daughter's future. Eventually, the proposal is put off when Purvi adamantly expresses her disagreement, much to her mother's chagrin, who now has one more reason to taunt her.
Meanwhile, having landed in the bad book of her rich suitor and co., Purvi finds that they are making her life increasingly difficult by all means possible. The rest of the story thus depicts how Purvi negotiates through this mess that her life has now become. 'Poorvayi Ek Nayi Asha can be watched on the DD Kisan channel.
