Set amidst the colour and tradition of the ancient city of Banaras, Mohe Rang Do Lal is the story of the impossible love between Viplav and Dhaani. The high-spirited, careless, and spoilt grandson of Mahant Dashrath Tripathi, Viplav is head-bent to go abroad for his law studies and has intentions of never returning to the religiosity, conservatism and ritualism of Banaras and his family. But life takes an unexpected turn as Viplav encounters Dhaani - a lady in white. An innocent prank played in revenge for a wounded ego lures Viplav into an unseen world and the understanding of the cruel realities of life.
A reality is symbolized by Dhaani. A young widow is heading a life of peace and quiet dignity abiding by her Dharma in a society that criticizes women to living death even in these times of modern approach of people. Draped in white and devout to her cause, Dhaani is an obedient yet no weak willow as evident by her unwavering stance and sense of pride held against Viplav from the time she saw him as a demon till his acceptance of love towards her.
