Indian Holiday is a regular serial telecast on Sony TV in 1997. It is a travel and leisure oriented show. It takes the viewers on a visual tour of the most happening tourist destinations across India and abroad. The show is in response to Star Plus launching a similar show titled, Great Escape. It is broadcast in the summer holiday season when most families in India plan vacations.

The show was unique for giving information which normal tourists generally miss out. Like the best travel options to the destination, best places to visit etc. The show became a comprehensive guide for people planning tours. The show also won awards from the Ministry of Tourism in the years 1997 and 1998.
Popular destinations like the Sasan Gir and the Lakshwadeep islands featured in the show. It wasn’t just the usual places, however. Exotic locations regularly featured as well. These included guidance to embark on trekking in the snow-capped ranges of Ladakh. Scuba diving off the coast of Lakshadweep. A trip down south to Munnar in Kerala, to experience a tea tasting trip. A bit of tiger spotting in the heart of India in Kanha while riding on the back of an elephant. A royal journey through the many palaces of Udaipur in Rajasthan. A trip up North to Lahaul/Spiti to embark on a motorcycle journey across the landscape.
International locations featured prominently as well. This included the likes of Kenya, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The show is one of Sony’s most popular shows. It has had many re-runs following popular demand from the viewers.
Anu Malhotra has enjoyed a highly successful career as a filmmaker. Over the years, she has won over fifteen awards both on National and International platforms. She is the Writer, Director, and Host of many eminent and popular travel and tourism based TV series, films, programmes, and even ad films. She has worked with the Department of Tourism in this regard. She is also charged with being the lead for the Incredible India campaign. Besides these, she has also created many documentaries. These have highlighted the unique cultures as well as traditions in the Indian subcontinent. These include regions such as that of The Apatani in Arunachal Pradesh, The Maharaja of Jodhpur and much more.
