On the occasion of Republic Day, Zee TV takes it as an opportunity to launch its new series Mulk, to give out a message of patriotism. Zee TV took up cleanliness program in five cities on Sunday of 26 January to bring out serial’s theme. Mulk has the format of daily soap drama based on the partition of India. It wanted to show how India was affected and especially how the life and friendship of the three friends were affected by this partition. The three friends were each Hindu, Muslim and Sikh. The serial was first telecasted on Zee TV on the occasion of Republic Day and thereafter on Doordarshan channel. Mulk was taken as an ideal serial for depicting how the lives of these three friends have the affect and what effect partition had on their friendship.
The story starts from the pre-partition period, wherein the three families of Kulbhushan, Mohammed Peer and Rajendra Singh were living in friendship and harmony in a small town near Lahore called Sheikhpura. The relationship between these families shows how well people used to dwell together in those times.
But the riots that came as part of partition changed everything between these families. The love and affection were replaced by enmity and the three families were completely thrown apart from each other. Mulk is the story of all those tough times and hardship that people faced during partition and how politics ruined lives of people.
