Doc Martin is a comedy English serial broadcast on the ETV Life channel. In this serial, the story of a doctor named Martin Ellingham is shown. This serial has nine seasons. Louisa Glasson is a teacher of the Portwenn. Doctor Martin has also joined Portwenn, as a replacement of Dr. Sim, after twelve years of practice as a surgeon. He ran a team of senior registers at St. John’s. But Louisa is not convinced of his skills. Martin has difficulty adjusting to the village’s life. He previously worked in London. The village girls are fascinated by this city man. Villagers start coming to this new doctor for their problems. Elaine is Martin’s assistant and is helping him adjust to this new place. He meets his Auntie Joan in her farmhouse, where he used to come as a child.

But when her aunt starts to cut a chicken for lunch, Martin jumps off his dining chair and runs away. This indicates that he has developed a phobia of blood. Being a doctor is a disgraceful thing and could harm his profession and reputation. Martin is harassed by a dog, which has entered his house forcefully, and Martin takes him to the police station. Martin goes to one of the patients, Gilbert, and solves his problem personally. Martin meets an accident while driving his car. He is driven off the road and left stranded in the fields. The stranded dog is still roaming in Martin’s home. Martin gets a new patient named Mrs. Walker, who has had headaches all her life.

She also suffers from digestive issues. The next man comes with getting a prescription for his wife who does not like doctors. He says she is suffering from Blood Pressure, Thyroid, and Osteoporosis. But she has been dead for a year now. Nearly all his patients do not have any medical condition. They all have come to have tea and gossip with him. Elaine’s handwriting is not even readable, and she is clumsy while writing prescriptions, so he fires her. Elaine has written about the name of a child who has appendicitis, but the name is not readable. So Martin decides to search the village starting from school. He asks Louisa regarding the boy’s name and whereabouts. The people in this village do not like the fact that he has sacked Elaine and stop serving him and talking with him. Everyone behaves rudely with him.
