Plot

The story unfolds in a small village with the mysterious disappearance of school girls. The villagers were in complete horror and therefore, Ganesh, who is a sub-inspector was given the responsibility of solving the case. SI Ganesh started his investigation and was suspicious about each and everyone in the village. He didn’t even trust his father and was cautious about him. An incident draws Ganesh to suspect Vijay, who was an auto driver. Is Vijay the real culprit? Will Vijay be able to rescue those girls? Are those girls even alive? The rest of the movie answers all the questions with an electrifying climax and ending. The rest of the movie provides answers to these questions, culminating in an electrifying climax and ending. Ravi Shankar delivers a solid performance as a lawyer, while the rest of the cast effectively portrays their respective characters.

Star Performance

Chaitanya Rao, who is expected to deliver delightful acting outperforms expectations. He is versatile across genres but this time seems to have fallen into a typecast, as he lacks articulate expressions and maintains the same expression throughout the movie. This has caused him to miss a golden opportunity to outshine and elevate himself. Although Kishori Dhratak gets limited screen time as Indu, still she was able to slay the character. She explicitly stands out due to the way she carries out her dance performances. Ravi Shankar cast as a lawyer Vishwanath does an excellent job in investigating the case along with Vijay.

Analysis

The storyline of the movie ‘Theppa Samudram’ is inspired by real-life events, and the addition of multiple characters to the story makes the movie even more engaging. but the movie underperforms as per the expectations. The story opens up with a gripping interrogation scene. Still, it loses momentum in due course as the story shifts from a thriller to more of a romantic love story between Vijay, the auto driver, and Indu, the crime reporter. Towards the interval, the viewers loiter as the story loses its rhythm, lacking urgency in the movie. The songs in between catch the attention with appealing visuals and beats but it doesn’t fit the narration. The movie suspects each of the characters as suspect at a regular interval to keep the content engaging. But the movie regains attention in the second half revealing mysteries with twists and turns. Despite all these the ending was fine, and so were the background scores.

Verdict

Substantially, the movie has a basic storyline but the twists and suspense add spice to it. Though the movie has a few dull moments and is incapable of providing consistent entertainment to the viewers, the movie catches its rhythm in the second half. Overall it was a reasonable watch.
