Plot

Thangaraj is a writer at the police station. He wishes the police to have a union so that their leave and duty timings would be appropriately organized. As he speaks rules like this, he is transferred to Chennai. After knowing about Thangaraj’s character, his new station people try to avoid him and give him a duty to protect a Ph.D. Scholar, Devakumar. Thangaraj is unknowingly involved in putting Devakumar behind bars. After realizing the mistake, Thangaraj takes effort to bring the innocent Devakumar out of the case. Was he able to do that? The rest of the story follows that.

Star Performance

Samuthirakani has done a splendid job. His performance as an about to retire cop is excellent. His body language for the role is perfect. Harikrishnan did a fantastic job as a Ph.D. student. He excelled in his innocent character and impressed the audience. The rest of the cast supported the leads well.

Analysis

The story is okay but has some drawbacks too. Some of the flashback scenes are not shot well. The director had also spoken about caste and societal issues. Although the writing looks good, it misses grip in some places. However, the first half seems to be quite okay than the latter half. The BGM by Govind Vasantha and the cinematography by Pratheep take the narration in the right way.

What’s There?

• The performances of the stars are good
• The first half is impressive
• The film is visually good

What’s Not There?

• The writing should have been better in the second half
• A few logical loopholes

Verdict

The director has taken a good attempt and succeeded in it with a good story and good performers. If certain scenes had been shot better, it would have also received appreciation like the one involving Samuthirakani in a few scenes, before the climax. Writer – watchable once!
