is the director and producer of the movie, and Anjan is the cinematographer. It's a story of love, lust, and murder, hence the name "Red".
Plot: It is about a desperate wife who is unhappy with her marriage and seeks sexual favors out of it. She falls in love with a stranger who actually, is a conman (Well, nothing new so far). The husband eventually gets to know about the affair and strikes a deal of one crore to get his wife killed. Not much can be revealed henceforth as it's a thriller so, to find out how does it pick up from there, whether the husband succeeds? Or does the wife manage to outwit him? Or is there something else in store for the viewers? Go, watch.
Analysis: It seems the director had a decent story on paper, but all went down the hill when it came to execution. The chemistry between the leads could have created magic if there were any! But there was no such thing; all you see is ample skin show. It seemed like a low budget movie if you were to judge by the clothes the girl got to wear. No matter how hard the director tried, in no way that was visually appealing. But, if you are looking for more of an erotic and less of a thriller, this movie could be for you.
Star Performances: The female protagonist's performance was a little disappointing. She couldn't create magic with the dialogues, given the little she were trusted with, as more of her role included wandering around in towels. The cinematographer’s work made the flow of movie rather jerky, as there were too many lapses. The director did a good job when it comes to male casting.Somana made a convincing villain as he gave the part much personality, and Aryan had excellent screen presence and good dialogue delivery.
What's There?
1. Decent performances by male leads prevented the already sinking ship from being completely submerged.
2. Needless to say, the songs live up to the hype.
What's Not There?
1. A good female lead.
2. Proper direction as more focus was on flesh-flashing than on acting and the story.
3. The connection between the scenes. The coherence of one plot to one another was not smooth. There were many "jump cuts" which make the shots seem inconsistent with one another. The cinematographer has quite some room for improvement.
4. Striking use of perspective.
Verdict: If you have too much money, time and a desire to question your taste then you can watch this movie.
