Plot 

The film’s protagonist is Gia, played by Sonam Kapoor, a blind ex-cop. Gia used to be a police officer but she was involved in a car accident along with her brother. Her brother did not survive the accident while it visually impaired Gia. Sometime after the accident, Gia is now living in Scotland with her guide dog named Elsa. At the same time, young women are getting abducted in the city. The psycho killer who abducts and murders the young women, played by Purab Kohli, chooses Gia as his next target. Gia suspects that the serial killer is targeting her so, she approaches the police. But Detective Prithvi, played by Vinay Pathak, who is handling the missing cases, brushes her off. The film follows Gia and detective Prithvi as they try to nab the cold-blooded killer.

Star Performance 

Sonam Kapoor could have given a much better performance but made the wrong choice to portray a blind character with a stone face devoid of emotions. Vinay Pathak performed well as the police officer trying to uncover the killer’s motives. Purab Kohli also performs well.

Analysis 

“Blind” is a remake of a Korean movie of the same name, but fails to capture the emotions and suspense the original portrayed. The cinematography is good because Gairik Sarkar makes the background gloomy to create a suspenseful and thrilling atmosphere. 

What’s There?

• A stellar star cast with Sonam Kapoor, Lillete Dubey, Shubham Saraf, Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Danesh Razvi

• The film is a crime thriller wherein a killer is loose and the protagonists scramble to find him

What’s Not There?

• The film fails to immerse the viewers as it fails to provide any back-story for the antagonist or his reasons for committing murders.

• The film lacks suspense and thrill

• The film’s plot feels predictable and boring

Verdict

“Blind” had all the elements to be a good crime thriller but was thwarted by weak performances and predictable plot. The film would be a good watch for Sonam Kapoor’s fans. Crime thriller enthusiasts can also give it a go.
