Plot

Anthony is living his retired life. He has a daughter, Anne. Although Anthony seems to be physically fit, his mental health condition is not that good. He is not interested in having a caretaker and hence behaves arrogantly. Following this, his daughter visits him at his residence and Anthony complains about his caretaker for stealing his things. Anne informs him that she would be moving to Paris soon, where she will start a new life with her boyfriend. Anne was earlier married to James and now they are divorced. Anthony forgot about their divorce and was confused about why she moves to Paris. Later, Anne reminds him of her divorce. Actually, Anne is living in the same house with her dad and her boyfriend, Paul. Anthony feels that he is living alone and Anne visits him occasionally. In an argument with Paul, Anthony decides to leave the house. When he wakes up, he finds him in a hospital and is informed that his daughter has gone to Paris. What would happen to Anthony? The climax deals with it.

Star Performance

Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman give out a fantastic performance. The rest of the cast had also done a wonderful job, as every character had been given importance in the film.

Analysis

This is a different kind of film that deals with dementia. It is really tough to bring emotions for the role that is actually mentally ill and feels that he is perfectly alright and the people around him are not good. Hopkins has given an award-winning performance and Olivia has given him a tough competition. The screenplay is fantastic and the movie moves in the perception of Anthony and then the fact. Well-balanced screenplay and narration made the film watchable without losing interest. Finally, the actors make the audience go emotional with their exemplary performances. The production and technical values are good and the makers had given a good visual experience.
