MORE CAST & CREW
Plot: The Observance is a paranormal story. Lindsay Farris plays Parker; the story starts when Parker decides to live in a flat to observe a woman for cash, and report it back to his unidentified employer. Parker has to note down all the conservations of the woman and inform to his employer. Some Paranormal activities were taking place such as he was having odd dreams, suddenly a strange and painful injury has appeared on his back, he used to see a glutinous substance, and a glass jar seems to be mysteriously filling itself with more of the same liquid every day. Perhaps, these strange activities in the house appear to be more dangerous than observing the woman across the street.
Analysis: Sims-Dennett mixes the scrutiny and memory in montages of close-ups and threatening sound design, most important us to ask how much of the danger Parker starts to recognize is in his mind. Observance could hardly be making our trepidation that what we're watching.
Star Performances: Joseph Sims-Dennett demonstrates a real talent for keeping his performers focused and got the shots he needs with the economy. Cinematographer Rodrigo Vidal Dawson does the work of capturing Parker’s mental collapse visually the further the story progresses. Lindsay Farris is great as Parker and is well supported by Stephanie King as Tenney; they both have a good onscreen chemistry. Lindsay Farris has fitted in the role and acted well.
What's there? The movie has the thrilling and strange moments. The visuals are perfect, and the places are scary too. There is suspense in it and the mysteries only keep the concentration of the audience in it.
What's not there? The movie does not have such wacky scenes which can create a feeling of fear in the audience; moreover, it has such scenes which are senseless, so humor is not there in the movie. In "Observance", we are gone thinking many things. We are thinking why Parker is mounting a short time graze. We are guessing why the jar is overflowing with a doubtful liquid and guessing why a frightening ghoulish-like woman is pestering him. So, all the obscurity remains a mystery after the ending of the movie. Parker gives a decent performance in an unsatisfactory movie.
Verdict:Â Observance doesn't tell about the past of the characters, so this becomes difficult for the audience to understand about the upcoming characters in the film. The movie has some thrilling moments and an exemplary performance by Lindsay Farris, but will leave the audience scratching their head at unexplained, frustrating plot developments.
