Hurd, an investor, and Lolita (née Espiau). She has Jewish-Catholic parentage. Her father was a Jewish and her mother, Roman Catholic. She got raised by them in Palm Springs, California, United States of America. She completed her graduation with a BA in economics and communications from Stanford University. In 1977, she was also a minor in political science. She worked as an executive assistant of Roger Corman, president of New World Pictures Company.
