PLOT: A group of four ex-criminals plan to kidnap the Pope from Rome and to charge one dollar as ransom from every Catholic person in the world. In spite of so much of hurdles, they kidnap the Pope and takes him in a public yacht. Each of the members shares their personal moments with the Pope and gets enlightened by him with philosophical words. They finally decide to release him without charging any ransom.
ANALYSIS: This movie is directed by Duke Mitchell Known for his slapstick comedy and his title of “K >> Read More... . He is a multi-talented guy, who is also known 'Mr. Palm Springs.' He was an entertainer and an actor. He shot this movie in the year 1975. Unfortunately, he was not able to finish it, and later he died in the year 1981. These movie reels were found in the production company's garage by its owners, Bob Murawski and Sage Stallone. They put their effort for almost 15 years in editing and bringing the movie to the screens. The plot of the movie was considered to be confusing.
STAR PERFORMANCE: The director himself acts in the lead role. Most of the actors gave a bad performance. Along with this, the fatuous dialogues also let the movie down. The characters were not connected to each other, and a strange performance was delivered by the actors. Many monologs were included in the Gone With the Pope to highlight Mitchell's performance.
WHAT'S THERE? Though this movie was captured in the 1970s, the editing team did a very great job in editing the movie and giving to us in a perfect resolution. With less damage, the movie looks so realistic and looks like the film was captured yesterday. The colors were pleasing and gave a rich look. The number 'Jack knife' is one tremendous track.
WHAT'S NOT THERE? Many unnecessary scenes, such as impressing an obese woman for making love, were unnecessary and out of the script. Many comedy scenes were added to control the serious tone of the movie.
VERDICT: A movie that will satisfy Mitchell's soul.
