The Nirbhaya case convicts were hanged to death today at 5:30 am. They had been kept hanging for thirty minutes, as per protocol. Then their bodies were lowered and a doctor checked them and declared them dead. It is reported that the four convicts didn’t express any last wish. The bodies were sent to a post-mortem at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Dr BN Mishra and four other doctors conduct the autopsies. The post-mortem is video-graphed.
A lockdown was imposed in Tihar jail, due to the execution. After the execution, the lockdown was lifted and the police conducted a flag march inside the prison. The flag march was by the Special Police from Tamilnadu that is in-charge of Tihar jail security. Although justice had been delayed after 7 years, it is delivered. However, people feel, if the criminals are punished severely at once, the crimes will get decreased.
