Kundan Lal Saigal emerged as one of the finest actors and the most brilliant singers of the Hindi Film Industry in the pre-Independence era. Though his career lasted only for a span of 15 years, he gave us all films and songs that are still remembered and loved by many. In April this year, Bhavan’s Kala Kendra of Amritsar organized a Sham-e-Qawwali to promote music and art among the youngsters. "K L Saigal" belong to Amritsar and to commemorate the singer’s illustrious career, the Kala Kendra also organized a musical night. Vocalists Bhupinder Singh and Kanwaljit Singh Suri sang some of Saigal’s melodious songs and entertained the audience. The event was planned by the Kala Kendra’s coordinator. It is said that such events will take place every month from this year onwards, to honor the city’s famous personalities and their work.
