Mahesh Rathsara Maddumaarachchi is a renowned Sri Lankan scriptwriter, journalist, freelance artist, lyricist, and author of the Sinhala language. He is known for his contributions to several fields like newspapers, television, stage drama, cinema, etc. He married Piyumanthi Manjula Maddumaarachchi in 1994, and the couple has three children. Mahesh Rathsara worked for several Tv channels as a program consultant and wrote his first screenplay for a mega teledrama, PABA, which made him a leading writer in Sri Lanka. Mahesh wrote the lyrics and handled the music department of a romance-drama film, Sinasuna Adaren, by Eranga Senarathna. He wrote the screenplay and dialogue for Sanjaya Nirmal's Rosa Kele, released on 10 October 2008. One of the notable projects by Mahesh Rathsara is Uththara, for which he wrote dialogue, screenplay, story, and lyrics. The film has directed by Sandun Rajakurna and released on 4 February 2010. King Hunther in 2011 and Pravegaya in 2015 are the other movies written by Mahesh. Mahesh Rathsara Maddumaarachchi has been the editor-in-chief of the weekly magazines, Sandarenu and Yuwathipathi.
