W Jayasiri is also known as Weerapullige Jayasiri. He was born on 1st May 1947. He is a Sinhala Actor, Lyricist, and Screenplay writer born in Hirimbura, Galle. W. Jayasiri was brought up with three brothers. He went to Kithulampitiya Central Girls' College. Then he moved to Matara, where he enrolled at Sumangala Vidyalaya, Matara and then at St. Thomas' College, Matara until he took his SSC exams. His enrollment from the school was cancelled due to his misbehaviour.

He then went to Vidyaloka College, Galle and was selected to the University of Colombo. At the university, he engaged in drama festivals and worked in the editing department and the drama circle. W. Jayasiri is a renowned Sri Lankan actor and has fulfilled many roles on the stage in theatres playing dramas and various other television roles. He is a versatile actor who has fulfilled roles in comedy and various other dramas. Besides being an actor, he is a scriptwriter and lyricist.
