Joseph Roger Seneviratne born on May 5, 1962, is an actor from Sri Lanka especially known for his work in cinema, stage drama, and television. He is also a singer and is also into politics profession-wise. He passed out from St. Thomas’ College, Kotte, and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo Sri Lanka. Riyency Steinwall Seneviratne, his father, worked with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority before retiring from the said post. He comes from a huge family with nine other siblings. He is married to Vineetha Chandrasekara, the couple has two children together. His acting debut was in 1976 in de Silva’s stage play Dunnadunu Gamuwe, where he served as the assistant stage manager. Some of the points of achievement in the theatre area are the stage plays Paswenna, Spartacus, Inhuman (Avamanawa), and Men with Shadows. His movie career started with the short film Parajithayo, in the year 1976.
Afterward, he worked in many other films like Ayoma, Sihina Deshayen, Lokuduwa, Dorakada Marawa, Wasuli, and Milla Soya. He has many times been awarded as the Best Actor, Supportive Actor, and Popular Actor in many local television and theater award festivals. Roger has also worked on international movies, these include Italian movies such as Mother Teresa and Return to Bangalore, and a French movie, Father Mannika. He later produced a television serial, Santhrasaya in 2001 which was rated as the highest for independent national television that year. It collaborated with Roger's production company 2R Creations which has made some serials like Ranarala and Wijayaba Kollaya. He also entered into politics in 1978. In 2009, he performed in the Western Provincial Council, more specifically as one of the councilors for the National Freedom Front (NFF) party. However, he resigned in 2018. In 1986, he served the Rupavahini Corporation and created documentaries like Ruwan Wassa and Diriya Duwa.
