Ashan Dias is a famous Sinhala actor of Sri Lankan nationality. He was born on May 31, 1981, into a Roman Catholic family. In his family, he has two sibling brothers. He did his schooling at Maris Stella College in Negombo. He had chosen a stream majorly focused on mathematics for his A/L education. He enrolled in the Institute of Architecture following his A/L examination He began his professional journey as a part-time newscaster at MTV/MBC Networks where he first worked as a TV reporter, contributing to coverage, writing, and editing of news articles.

He even contributed to the field of news reading for Yes FM as well as MTV. While fulfilling his duty as a TV presenter, he ventured backstage in productions by Workshop Players. In the theatrical adaptation of “ The Lion King Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, he played the role of a hyena. He switched his career to acting and made his debut in the movie “Alimankada” directed by Chandran Rutnam which was released in 2008. He did an exceptional job and won accolades for portraying the character “Captain Wasantha Ratnayake”.

He established himself in the film industry with the movie “Siri Parakum” released in 2016. He even earned the prestigious Hiru Golden Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of “Pathiraja Senevi” in the movie. Apart from acting, he also hosts various shows. He along with Jagath Manuwarna(actor) cohosted the Derana Lux Film Festival in 2019. In 2020, he hosted the cookery show “Cookout” which was aired on TV Derana. He appeared in the movies “Visangamanaya” and “Maariya: The Ocean Angel” in 2023.
