Suraj Thapa is a well-known singer of Nepal born on August 23, 1976, to Prem Bahadur Thapa and Tirtha Kumar Thapa in Sanepa, Nepal. He spent his childhood in Nepalgunj, Nepal. His mother, Tirtha Kumari, is also a legendary folk singer in the Nepali Music Industry. He got his training in music from the legendary singer Mr.Amber Gurung. He was also a contestant on Nepal Idol. Suraj started his career as a singer after passing the Vocal Test Examination from Radio Nepal in 1991. He has contributed to the Nepali Music industry with various songs including, Paschim Kohi Purwa Ghar, Yespali Ta Jante Bakhro Khaana Paine bho, Gahiro Ghau, etc.
Moreover, he has won many awards, such as ‘Best Duet Singer of the Year’ by Image Award,’ Best Adhunik Singer and Music Composer Award from OS Nepal Music Award, etc. Suraj is also a member of the Nepali Band – ‘Nepathya’. Also, he has been teaching music in various schools in Nepal for the last 17 years. He has performed in many concerts all around the world.
