Yubakar Rajkarnikar is a Nepali filmmaker, programmer, and media professional, with the writing and production of several television series and documentaries. He was a 22-year-old guitar-strumming when he felt this urge to create something lasting. He formed a group of friends with the same mindsets and started WAVE, Nepal's first English youth magazine. The first issue of the magazine was a hit in August 1994, and all 4,000 copies sold out instantly. He has also been associated with the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival as a programmer for years and now is the Festival Director at the Nepal America International Film Festival.
But he still regards WAVE as his baby. He has more than ten years of experience in international development programs and project management, on issues including governance, leadership, the inclusion of youth, women, and other marginalized groups, gender, security and justice, and peacebuilding. He also has experience in leading projects funded by USAID, UN, EU, DFID, and others. He has worked in many countries situated in Asia, Europe and Africa.
