Pepsi Battle of the Bands is a music reality show that first debuted on PTV Home in 2002 before being revived in 2017. The competition aims to showcase the country's most talented bands. After two prior seasons, Battle of the Bands returned for its third outing in 2018, with the final face-off between bands Xarb and Bayaan. Throughout the two-month-long season 3, the grand finale episode presented special performances from the judges/mentors.

Strings crooned a high-energy rendition of their hit "Zinda," while Meesha Shafi sang an original haunting melody titled "Main." Judge Shahi Hasan offered a reworked cover of Vital Signs' classic "Maula." Meanwhile, Fawad Khan stunned with Satrangi, a world music fusion track promoting unity that he had written a decade prior but only performed for the first time on the Battle of the Bands stage.

The finale also involved the finalist bands - Bayaan and Xarb - performing their songs again, including Bayaan's first-ever composition "Nahein Milta." A telling moment occurred when the bands got to ask the judges questions, and Bayaan quizzed Fawad Khan about potentially returning to rock music full-time. Khan said he still visits the studio out of nostalgia and may release occasional songs but likely won't rededicate himself wholly back to music.

Video packages also recap the journey of the bands and band members over the season. In the tense results announcement, underdogs Bayaan emerged with a surprise victory over fellow finalists Xarb, etched into Battle of the Bands history as the winners of season 3. However, the judges emphasized that the real musical journey starts now for these talented bands after the show.
