Isai Payanam is a Tamil music TV program that was first telecasted on Doordarshan Madurai, a regional Tamil language TV channel. But after its apparent success, makers telecasted it on DD Podhigai. DD Podhigai is also, a regional TV channel that broadcasts TV shows in Tamil. Doordarshan is a public service broadcaster owned by Government of India, Ministry of India handles all the programming. It is one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions.
Isai Payanam is a musical show dedicated to classical music forms at the regional level. It was a film song-based show on classical ragas. According to the makers of this show, in this modern world, youth are abandoning our roots, and they need to be reminded of our diverse culture.
