On December 22, 2007, the vibrant city of Malaysia played host to the spectacular dance extravaganza, Attam 100 Vagai-3. Organized by Astro TV and now eagerly anticipated in its third year, this competition showcased the best of dance talent from around the globe. Six exceptional teams earned their place in the finals, representing Singapore, India Sri Lanka Mauritius, and Malaysia. The journey leading to the finals was as diverse as the teams themselves. The Indian team, Melange, secured their spot through a fierce competition on Jaya TV called Dance Machi Dance adding an extra layer of excitement to their participation.
The finals were a riveting display of skills, creativity, and cultural diversity. The competition culminated with Melange from India claiming the third prize a substantial reward of 20,000 RM (approximately Rs 2,40,000). The Singaporean sensation, Ramesh Dancers, clinched the top spot, walking away with the coveted first prize of 50,000 RM while a Malaysian team, Ne’Wera Dancers, secured the second prize of 30,000 RM. The remaining three teams - Rajatha Rashmi from Sri Lanka, Sega from Mauritius, and X-Treme Dancers from Malaysia - were not left empty-handed, as they were awarded consolation prizes of 5,000 RM each.
The competition was graced by the esteemed presence of Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, who officiated the event, and Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, who added his distinguished presence to the celebration.
