DD National also started another same generic show. The name of the show is Rangoli. The Chitrahaar was the longest running Television serial which was broadcasted from 1960. The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad also technically supported the DD National to broadcast the show widely.
The word “Geetmala” was deeply connected with the Radio show Geetmala. The first name of the programme was Binaca Geetmala. The show was sponsored by Binaca Toothpaste. Later, the name changed to Cibaca Geetmala. Finally it was called Colgate Cibaca Geetmala. The show was first broadcasted on Commercial Hindi Service of Radio Ceylon in 1952.
