The show revolves around a young and virtuous girl, Laxmi. Laxmi lives in a village in her grandmother’s home. Her parents died when she was young. Since then, her relatives have treated her like a servant in exchange for food and shelter. Even after her family neglects and mistreats her, she has nothing but love for them. She has big dreams about her life. She believes her marriage to be the only escape from her plagued life.

Shodhan is a city boy. He comes to Laxmi’s village for his work. Unfortunately, Laxmi gets forced to marry him. She is trapped in that marriage. Nevertheless, Laxmi accepts her situation. She embraces the idea of Shodhan’s wife. She believes Shodhan is her knight in shining armor. Shodhan decides to take her to the city to save Laxmi from the villagers. Laxmi has never been to the city. She is nervous but tries to cope with the changes in her life. Shodhan’s mother readily accepts her as her daughter-in-law. Laxmi is becoming accustomed to her new life and is happy.

But she gets to know that Shodhan already loved another girl, Shruti. Shruti does not know about Shodhan’s marriage, nor does he plan to inform her. Shruti meets Laxmi and finds her sweet and decent. She becomes good friends with her, not knowing Laxmi’s true identity. Laxmi feels she is interfering in Shruti and Shodhan’s love story. Some family members did not like Laxmi and conspired against her. They instigated her against Shodhan and created misunderstandings. Shruti gets to know about Shodhan’s marriage and berates Laxmi. Laxmi divorces Shodhan so that he can marry Shruti. After marrying Shruti, Shodhan realizes he loves Laxmi truly. He now finds himself trapped due to his choices. Shodhan plans to leave Shruti to come back to Laxmi.
