MTV Stunt Mania Season 1 is a television show brought by MTV India. The show came on air for the first time in September 2009. It is India’s first reality television show based on stunt biking. It is full of thrill and street stunting. The host of the last show of the series had been VJ Rannvijay Singh, who won Roadies Season 1, which had been again brought to the television by MTV India. He used to host the other seasons of Roadies, made an appearance as a host in Splitsvilla Season 1, and is one of the most famous video jockeys of India among the youth.
The format of the show begins with auditioning numerous Stunters. Upon selection, the selected Stunters are given a Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-I bike each to perform different stunts to advance to the next stage. In the first episode, the selected contestants are grouped into four different teams or squads, namely, Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. Then the respective teams are given a choice to name their respective teams. They are also provided with safety gears and bikes with their respective team color. Each episode presents Skill challenges, and eventually, Survival Stunts. During the Skill Challenge, the teams have to do different tasks while performing a Skill Stunt, which had been decided beforehand. The team that wins is the one which performs the best, and therefore stays immune and advances to the next level.
Apart from the winning team in this round, all the other teams have to nominate a member of their particular team, who will be facing the Survival Stunt. The member who performs the worst in this round gets eliminated from the show. This continues until the number of Stunts left is just a hand full. Before the finale of this show, there is a “
Wild Card” challenge in which all the evicted contestants are called back, and they receive an opportunity to come back into the competition.
At the very end, the winner in the Grand Finale stunt receives a cash prize, along with a brand new fully customized Bajaj Pulsar, and yes, of course, the grand title of India’s Best Stunt-rider. The first season witnessed its
Allan Amin and
Deepti Gujral as its host. And the winner of this season had been Saurabh Handa. Being the first show of its kind, Stunt Mania opened the gates for the popularity and acceptance of stunting as a career, not only with raw vigor and style but with a lot of glamours as well.
