Living on the edge was an Indian television series about motoring and environmental issues. It was aired on Government channel Doordarshan and Star TV for more than five years in a row during 1990s. The serial was hosted by

The show was launched on the day of Football World Cup Final of 1994 in which Brazil and Italy fought for the cup. The show was telecast just before the final match, and got a huge viewership on the very first day as a sky fall due to the hype of the match as both the teams of Brazil and Italy are very popular teams in India. As it was a travel show depicting environmental issues, authorities at Doordarshan were very apprehensive about its acceptability among the drama genre serials that were very popular in those day but the show got tremendous ratings right from the inceptions proving all the apprehensions of the authorities completely wrong and erratic.
The show basically dealt with exploitation of natural resources by human being for monetary benefits and abuse of resources without any constraints and the consequences that may arise out of it. It also dealt with people who were fighting a battle to save the nature from these misuses by the humans. It was a very popular serial when it was being aired but Doordarshan stopped the airing in 1996 for want of sponsorship after which it shown on Star TV. The show also received Onida Award in most informative series and Panda Award at Wildscreen in Bristol.
The show telecast in Doordarshan from 17th July 1994 to 29th September 1996. After that Star TV picked up the show and ran the same for quite sometime.
