Plot

Kathiravan loses his wife and his leg in an accident. He receives some compensation cash for losing his wife and leg. He wants to spend it for Magizh’s (his daughter) education, but Magizh wants her dad to get a prosthetic leg. Kathir’s life changes when his daughter is hospitalised. The remainder of the story deals with this.

Star Performance

As always, Prabhu Deva has put in all his efforts to beautifully play the role of a disabled man and the loving father of a small girl. He dances and fights well with his one leg. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was perfect fit for the character of arrogant rich woman. Prakash Raj’s character and acting was excellent. All the cast have enacted their assigned roles very well.

Analysis

The director, Santhosh P. Jayakumar has attempted his first serious subject with Poikkal Kuthirai. He has shown more attention to sketching the lead character. The story is about how a father will go to save his daughter’s life. The cinematography and editing is done perfectly, portraying the right emotions. The film has some peppy songs that seem to have thrilled the masses. As most of the movies portray mother-child relation, this movie comes up with father’s point of view.

What’s there?

Prabhu Deva’s performance as a disabled man is stunning in this movie
The father-daughter relation portrayed in this movie is beautiful
All the cast have performed well

What’s not there?

Some of the scenes are unnecessary and lagging
There are minute imperfections

Verdict

Poikkal Kuthirai is a movie for Prabhu Deva fans. Santhosh P. Jayakumar has done a clean movie. All the movie lovers will like this movie.
