The last time AR Rahman and Prabhu Deva collaborated on a project was in 1997, when ‘Minsara Kanavu’ was released. The movie starred Prabhu Deva, Kajol, and Aravind Swamy in lead roles, and was later dubbed into Hindi as ‘Sapnay’. It was this very combo that made Prabhu Deva a household name with the film ‘Kadhalan’ [also dubbed in Hindi as ‘Humse hai Muqabla’]
