Plot

Riny decides to give her father’s old hospital-turned-lodge a new life, which comes with a string of resident spirits that all have their own backstories.

The film is composed of a cast that includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Nyla Usha, Prakash Raj, Baburaj, Sarayu Mohan, Mallika Sukumaran, Harisree Ashokan, Shari, Binu Pappu, Biju Spoanam and Alexander Prasanth.

Analysis

Kunjamminis Hospital is a fantasy horror movie with more comedic elements than either of the genres mentioned above although it isn’t clear if that was the intention from the start. The plot delves into the histories of each one of the spirits that reside in the hospital, which are then somehow connected to the main plot, resulting in a plot with various holes. The movie is termed a horror-comedy where the horror fails to produce any meaningful reactions and the comedy comes off as a clumsy byproduct of the poor writing that the film is equipped with. The movie can be viewed as a sub-par pick for one that can be watched with the entire family, the amount of nonsensical twists, below average cinematography and poor writing make for a compelling critique of the film.
