Plot
Six friends party at a guest house, where they play a game called Chaucer. The next day, one of them ends up dead. Varun, one of the group members, deduces that the deaths are eerily connected to the game they are playing, and whoever loses the game ends up losing their lives. Can Varun and the remaining friends make it out alive?
Star Performances
As a director, Vivekananda Vikranth has attempted a cliched trope with a unique twist. For this very reason, he deserves commendation of every measure.
The ensemble cast also does their job very well. Aayush Tejas stands out amongst the cast. The tension and the urge to survive are reflected well in his performance.
Analysis
Indian cinema's equation with suspense thrillers has been mixed. There have been hardly good thrillers that compel the viewers to think and wonder about the next twist. Of course, we are yet to reach the levels of classics like 'Seven' and 'The Silence of the Lambs,' but a well-intentioned effort will not be mocked.
'Daksha' is one such effort. For its production quality, the movie is quite good. The director ensures that the twists are integrated seamlessly with every sequence. The fear factor remains constant, and there is no attempt to follow the tropes used popularly in movies like 'Scream.'
The background music is engaging and chilling, just in the right amount as per the movie's needs. The seamless transition between the physical and the psychological dimensions of the board game involved is more than enough to intrigue the audiences.
In terms of acting performances, the ensemble cast has done their job well. The leads Aayush and Ayra do their job well. So does the supporting cast. Some of the roles could have been written better, but still, the overall experience is fair enough for a good watch.
One of the few gripes of the movie is the pacing. The first half takes a bit too long to build the narrative, and some viewers might find it hard to keep engaged with the film. The soundtrack for the music is not something you shall remember for long.Â

Verdict
'Daksha' is a welcome addition to the Telugu thriller franchise. The concept, despite some cliched tropes, is innovative. The integration of a board game and suspense is intriguing, and the performances are a bonus. Do give this thriller a try!   Â
