Basu Chatterjee is an Indian screenplay writer and director. He was born on 10th January 1930 in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Chatterjee kicked-off his career in Mumbai, then Bombay, by joining the weekly magazine, Blitz. He worked there for 18 years as a cartoonist and an analyst. He changed his career preferences when he joined Basu Bhattacharya as an assistant director for the Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman as lead cast 'Teesri Kasam', the film won the National Film Award for the Best Feature Film.
