Hoyte van Hoytema as the cinematographer takes a step ahead with his innovative use of the camera, strongly supported by editor Dino Jonsater's use of stylized nuances.
Analysis
‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ is almost a handbook of how the world of espionage runs. As such, adapting it for the silver screen was far from a cakewalk. However, director Tomas Alderson does a surprisingly good job with the film adaptation of the same.
From exquisite camerawork to slick editing and impeccable performances, you name it, and this movie has it. Initially, you might be confused by the storytelling approach of this film. But if you are ready to invest your time in the same, you will be more than satisfied.
This film is literally the who’s who of English acting. From John Hurt to the lead protagonist Gary Oldman, everybody strikes a remarkable presence in whatever space they have been offered on screen. Some of the standout performers include Mark Strong, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, and Colin Firth.
There are very flaws, except those with the pace and the approach. However, they are negligible in comparison to what the film overall offers. It is a proper espionage movie, minus any opulence, associated with that from the ‘Bond franchise.’

Verdict
‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ is a no-nonsense espionage thriller that sticks to its core issues. It does not meander anywhere, and the acting performances are just phenomenal. If you are a fan of spy dramas, you cannot afford to miss this!
