is about a Danish journalist who goes undercover as a Liberian Ambassador to enter on a dangerous yet crazy journey which is to showcase the truth of the blood diamond trade in Africa.
Curiosity is the primary reason behind the making of this movie. The protagonist does not judge the morality of the people neither questions their conduct. And this is something to praise. The movie is amazingly refreshing. It raises certain questions like- How diamonds are smuggled outside Africa?, What is the reason behind corrupt diplomacy and why people join it? However, these questions are not answered in the movie. To search for these answers, the protagonist Mads Brugger turns to a Liberian Ambassador. He gets into this real diplomacy with each stereotypical trait of white. He smokes, wears khaki suits and black boots and smokes. So he shows us how one gets involved into this diamond business at the first place.
The movie is fascinating and sometimes funny but very much informative. However, the shooting of the film is a bit unclear because of the use of hidden camera and Canon5D. But the movie demanded that. This movie is a perfect example of a documentary and makes you question the very basis of foreign aids.
Verdict: It is entertaining at the same time gives information, and it is definitely a must watch.
