Maya the Bee 3: The Golden Orb is an animated children's picture. This beautiful movie is directed by Noel Cleary, produced by Tracy Lenon and Brian Rosen. At the screenplay level, this story comes to life through the pen of Noel Cleary, Fin Edquist, and Adrian Bickenbach. Other cast members of the film are Benson Jack Anthony, David Collins, Christian Charisiou, Frances Berry & Justine Clarke. The magical music score is created by Ute Engelhardt. The movie has been produced under the production companies banner of the following Studio B Animation, ZDF Enterprises, Flying Bark Production and Studio 100 Media.

Plot

In Maya the Bee 3: The Golden Orb, Maya, accompanied by her friend Willy, goes to the forest and finds a golden orb. They then shortly discover that the orb is a royal ant egg, which is about to hatch into the next queen of an ant colony somewhere far away. For this, Maya given the responsibility for delivering the orb, and Willy has to go through several daunting adventures. During their way, they meet Boof an evil dung beetle desiring the orb to themselves. However, Maya's perseverance and positive attitude don't let them give up, and Willy starts fighting for his friend for the very first time in the movie. Throughout the film, Maya and Willy encounter many challenges that teach them valuable lessons about courage, friendship, and teamwork. Finally, they can hand over the golden orb so that the new queen can spread peace within her territory. At movie’s end, Maya and Willy go home with the sense of having helped.

Star Performance

Kids of all ages find this movie enjoyable; the characters, and the animations are par excellence. The toons, each of which is full of character, are fantastic and the drawings are sheer brilliance since they are computer-generated. To this extent, the film is replete with mythic elements. It contains characters, among which are bees, ants, and intelligent beetles to name but a few of them. It conveys emotions, actions, and the visuals of the colorful and complicated world in which the characters live, enriching the beauty of the movie, which has an added artistic flavor. The music score also has that feel that seems to be associated with fairy tales through a blend of traditional and modern music, which can be used to enhance an emotion or mood in the story. The most conspicuous aspect of this animated feature is that of the cast of voice actors since they bring to breath into characters through voice overs. They seem in the voices of characters even if they are not on the screen, although the characters appear realistic enough.

Analysis

The voice talents of Benson Jack Anthony and Frances Berry are the voice behind Maya and Willy respectively and they both animate these characters with passion. This movie has an appropriate use of music which makes the character to dance and thus depict their feelings hence making the journey more enjoyable for the audience. The story remains a perfect example of bright animation with a focus on such values are bravery, unity and responsibility for the others. The character’s details and the voiceovers also enhance the film’s ability to appeal to the young and the elderly.

What’s There?

  • Choreographers to make the show exciting and help in presenting instrumental breaks with music before/after scene.
  • Several with their personalities presented, such values as courage, companionship, and the importance of teamwork are the most evident.
  • The film’s story is based on the beautiful animation the action takes place in a beehive as well as in the distant ant kingdom and even further.

What’s Not There?

  • The audience might feel that there isn't much action and that most of what the picture shows is the development and feelings of the character.
  • There is relatively little detail concerning the different kingdoms of the insects and the world in which they inhabit.

Verdict

Although there are a few moments of slow pacing in the middle, Maya the Bee 3: The Golden Orb never really lacks in charm or adventure. It's quite a sweet film to watch—not just for fans of this series or for people who are into this genre, but for any fan who enjoys warm-hearted animated stories. So, go for it with complete assurance that you will find it a sweet, entertaining experience.
