The movie is edited by Adrien Rostiralla. Shane Abbess has also written the screenplay of the movie.

Plot

Whit Carmichael is the only survivor of a biological outbreak in a dystopian mining facility. His future depends on the search and rescue team stationed to find him and possibly stop a disaster, which is set to arrive on Earth in an hour.

Star Performance

Everyone has done their part well. Nobody is a standout in this film, but every actor has done a great job. Daniel MacPherson, as Whit Carmichael, has the desperation and helplessness that will make you root for him to be with his family.

Analysis

The film does have a great premise with its dystopian setting. It makes the audience more intrigued and also makes us introspect about human nature, from how violent we can be to what insanity we can go to to helping each other to kill brutally. The film has some gruesome scenes where all the mining workers are just slaughtering each other, tearing each other’s skin. Despite only 1 hr 50 min long, it does feel lengthy as the movie’s pace is slow. And confusing in places. The film is more about human nature than science fiction. Maybe they were going that route METAPHORICAL or open to interpretation, letting the audience decide. The film has good VFX, considering its budget. The music is loud, so loud that in some scenes, it overpowers the actors. The makers were ambitious but took a lot on the plate. And didn’t capitalize on that. The film follows the usual science fiction tropes but doesn't bring out anything new. The film does have similarities with the movie Aliens.

What's there?

  • A survival story
  • Good performances
  • Open to interpretation

What's not there?

  • Confusing in parts
  • Slow-paced
  • Two-dimensional characters, which can frustrate some viewers

Verdict

If you’re looking for a decent action thriller, you can give this movie a shot.
